13 Jan Sisterhood of The Traveling Pens
Every book I write comes with a theme of its own–not just story-wise, but for me as I write it. Each one very personal, each of them profound. There’s a reason I call every novel a snapshot in time–because it is defined by the moment in which it was written. You may remember my post a few weeks ago about how difficult the early drafts of The Line Between were, and how much the importance of surrounding yourself with the people you need for the journey hit home for me. This road was not meant to be traveled alone. I tell new writers this all the time, and it goes for life as well.
Given how thematic family and traveling companions have been to me of late, it seemed like no coincidence when a conversation with an author friend turned–in the space of an hour–into the banding together of three women with the same mission: to share stories, to love on readers and booksellers, and to walk this Midwestern writer’s road together. I’m so thrilled to introduce you to Nicole Baart and Kimberly Stuart if you don’t know them already. Their books are brilliant but more importantly, they–like their authors–are full of love. For the journey, for readers, and the stories that bind us all.
And now we’re setting out on a series of adventures beginning in Omaha and Lincoln at the end of this month. We call ourselves the Traveling Pens and we can’t wait for time with you. For now, check out our first events HERE. We will have goodies. We will have hugs. We might even have wine. (If you’re not in the area, hold tight! Just remember we have 11 kids between us ?).
For now, go follow Nicole and Kimberly on Facebook, Twitter, and if you’re on Instagram, please follow us at @TravelingPens. (We plan to share our hijinks along the way. And there will be hijinks.) If you do that, leave a comment to be entered to win TWO BOOKS–one from me and one from Kimberly. The Pens and I have fun things ahead for you–and you and I have fun days ahead together with many exciting things to come.
I send you love,
~Tosca
