I’m A Nerd

So it’s true: I’m a nerd. Which is why I had to slip Firefly and Roswell (remember Roswell?) in the Progeny. Along with a few other references I’m sure you’ll recognize. Also, a Steven James novel—and here’s the scoop on that. Steven is a friend of mine and in one of his books, a character is reading a Tosca Lee novel. So it’s kind of an inside joke. (You can also find a character reading Demon: A Memoir in one of Jim Rubart’s books).

As far as some of the facts about Emily that Luka shares with her… I’ll let you decide which of those I poached from real life (cough cough most of them).

Meanwhile, other (more recent) shows I’m currently hooked on: The Path (Hulu), Fear the Walking Dead (this season is way better than the first), Outlander, Game of Thrones, The 100, Reign, The Blacklist. Basically, I watch too much TV. I tried to fit more TV in Audra’s story, but it’s hard to do when your character is running for her life. 😉

Best of luck with Progeny, Ms. Lee! I grew up in Lincoln and stay in touch. I enjoyed learning about you in the Journal – feeling a bit of hometown pride – and recognized an acomplished person who shares my interests in literature and TV! Fantasy is the condiment of everyday life.
I look forward to getting to know your work, and to enjoying some of your shows I haven’t yet tried. May you enjoy every success!
